CHSA FDC Trainers Institute - June 10-12, 2015

FDC Trainers Institute

Registration includes a three-day training in the FDC Program by a master teacher.  After the Institute, the master teacher will co-facilitate two classes with the trainee at their agency, observing and providing mentor coaching, providing feedback on the instructor's teaching and portfolio reviews, and will provide phone support sessions throughout the duration of the course.  If additional trainees participate from the same agency, they will be included in the coaching/mentoring cohort.

From Aspiration to Attainment: Practices That Support Early Childhood Degree Attainment, Los Angeles Universal Preschool’s Child Development Workforce Initiative

This study sought to understand what distinguishes students who are successful at earning degrees or transferring to four-year institutions from those who are stalled in their progress or who dis-enroll from school. The study explored student success from two perspectives: those of college staff who support students toward degree attainment and transfer-ready status, and those of the students themselves, representing different categories of student progress.

A-133 Audit Training Webcast: Understanding the Importance of Your Annual Audit and How the Audit Process Can Strengthen Your Organization

Understanding the purpose and importance of the annual audit can help grantee leadership strengthen the program organization. The Office of Head Start (OHS) believes that the five year awards and the conditions, oversight, and training and technical assistance will strengthen the quality of services. OHS fully expects grantees to achieve the greatest outcomes through the provision of high quality, comprehensive services to children and families.

As a condition for all five year grants on the Notice of Award (NoA), each grantee must participate in this OHS-sponsored single audit webcast within one year of the start of the project period.

To receive credit toward this grant condition, the grantee must fill out the registration pop-up box at the end of the webcast. Please have your grant number on hand to register accurately. The webinar is 3 hours long. The webinar may not be viewed for credit from a mobile or tablet device.

This past spring, CSCCE Director, Dr. Marcy Whitebook, delivered two presentations at the National Center for Research on Early Child Education's Quality Improvement Meeting. In both Taking Stock: The Early Childhood Higher Education Inventory and Supportive Environmental Quality Underlying Adult Learning in Early Childhood Settings, Marcy discusses the complex interaction among early childhood teacher preparation programs, early care and education workplace environments, and assistance for ongoing teacher learning. She presented new tools developed by the CSCCE designed to inform policy development and quality improvement planning: one focuses on the early childhood higher education landscape and the other on work environments that support teachers practice and development.
